What is a micro-machine?

One of the most important steps in computing technology in the coming years is likely to be a return to mechanical methods. Using the same process used to create chips, it’s possible to fabricate mechanical parts – levers, gear wheels, and small motors.
The best known example of a micro-machine was created by Sandia Laboratories in New Mexico in the US. It’ a complete motor developing 50W of power in one square millimeter – still a bit big for some of the micro – machines planned for the future.
What are micro-machines going to be used for? Obvious applications are sensors, gyros, and drug delivery. The idea is that a micro-machine could have a strain sensor or a gyroscopic attitude sensor and electronics built into a single chip-sized package. The idea of using a micro-machine to deliver drugs is getting a bit closer to more sci-fi applications. Only a step further is the idea of building insect-sized robots that could do difficult jobs in very small places. Swallowing an ant-sized machine to cure you or putting one inside some failed machinery seems like a really good idea!

Desktop publishing (DTP)

Desktop publishing (DTP) software allows the user to produce printout in the style of a newspaper . That is , in columns with pictures and other graphics . DTP is run on a microcomputer system with a laser printer for high quality , fast printout . The computer should have a large hard disk and a large amount of memory . A high resolution monitor with a 21- inch screen is recommended for easy working . A scanner is needed to import photographs and possibly a video digitiser to capture video images .

DTP software can be thought of as integrated word processing and graphics, with additional features to enable pages to be laid out in columns and illustrations to be inserted . A facility to import photographs and video images is also provided .Often DTP software has only basic word processsing and graphics facilities . It relies on the user making use of word processor and graphics software to prepare documents and illustrations before importing them into the DTP software . Its strength is in providing the structure to manipulate documents into columns or rows , and to cut and position graphics as required

ATM - advantages & disadvantages

In our country, there are a lot of banks which distribute ATM cards, for examples, Vietcombank, ACB bank, BIDV... Each bank distributes different kinds of ATM card. I think “ten thousand miles card” is the most popular card. So now, I’ll only say about it!

First thing I want to present is structure of ATM card. ATM card is made in plastic. In the front of card, you can see account number of user, it includes sixteen numbers. And period of using card. At the bottom there is name of user. In the back of it, we can see a black range. It’s a magnetic stripe – a very important part of card.

When using something, we usually care about advantages and disadvantages about it, aren’t we? So, I’ll share with you some advantages and disadvantages of ATM card

About advantages:
1. You don’t need carry cash if you go some places which have ATM.
2. If your ATM card is stolen, your money is safe because the criminal would need your PIN to access your funds.
3. If you need cash, you don’t need go to bank. You can access your money at an ATM every time of day or night.
4. You don’t need pay the common transaction’s fees.
About disadvantages:
1. You also need carry cash because not that there are ATMs everywhere.
2. In our country, most of ATM cards allow you to withdraw limited money during the day. If you need withdraw more, you must go to the bank.
3. Secure problem: the ATM card can be faked, make a loss for banks and users.

who invented the ATM?

Many great names mentioned such as: Luther George Simjian (his idea came first), Don Wetzel, he's got patents on display in the Museum of American History to prove it. or John Shepherd-Barron.
Nowadays, it's a matter of dispute (debate)

Many people believe that Don Wetzel invented the ATM in about 1969. But some didn’t think so. In 1939, Luther George Simjian – a Turkish American inventor. He did register related patents for a version of ATM with 20 patents, but not-so-successful. His idea was creating a hole-in-the-wall machines that allow customers to make financial transactions, the idea was met with a great deal of doubt. The Citicorp bank gave it to trial, but after 6 months, it is dismounted because there was little demand. However, nowadays that is a huge demand!
We couldn’t talk about history of ATM without talking about John Shepherd-Barron. He had an idea in the 1960's for a 24/7 cash dispenser. At that time the customer only could draw out about 10 pound for a transaction. However, specialists didn’t recognize, because this machines didn’t give back card to customers (They gulp them, and customers must buy a new card…)

Specialists believe that, the world’s first ATM was installed in 1969 in Chemical Bank in New York. And the author of this machine was Don Wetzel. He and two other inventors listed on the patent. They were Tom Barnes, a mechanical engineer and George Chastain, an electrical engineer.

Thought many people still dispute: who invented ATM? But nowadays, ATM is become so common. In the North and South Pole have event.

Automated teller machine (ATM) and ATM card.

ATM stands for “Automated teller machine”, that is, a computerized telecommunications device that provides the customers of a financial institution with access to financial transactions in a public space without the need for a human clerk or bank teller. On most modern ATMs, the customer is identified by interesting a plastic ATM card (For examples: …) this is a magnetic tripe or a plastic smartcard with a chip, that contains a unique card number and some security information, such as an expiration date or CVC(CVV). Security is provided by the customer entering a personal identification number (PIN). Using an ATM, customers can access their bank accounts in order to make cash withdrawals (or credit card cash advances) and check their account balances. ATMs are known by various casual terms including “automated banking machine, cash machine, hole-in-the-wall, cash point or Bancomat (in Europe and Russia).
